Batch Enroll

1. Click on the Manage tab.
2. Click the Roster link under Course Management.
3. Click on the Batch Enroll link in the toolbar.
4. Use the Browse button to upload an appropriately formatted file.
5. Click the Upload button.
6. Follow the six steps by completing the appropriate information.
7. Click the Finish button.

Create a file using a line editor like Notepad or BBedit. On one line enter the user email id (MSU NetID) such as msunetid@msu.edu, then use the tab and then enter the rights number.

Save this file.

Go to the course Manage tab. Click the Roster link under Course Management. Click on the Batch Enroll link in the toolbar to enter the Batch Enrollment Wizard. Use the Browse button to find the file you just created on your computer. Leave the format choice at the default Custom Settings Format. Click the Upload button.

Step 1: File Format
Click the radio button for Tab. Leave other settings unchecked. Click the Continue button.

Step 2: File Preview
Click the Continue button.

Step 3: Column Mappings
Under Account Settings, look for the Username field and set to Column 1. Under Subscription Settings, look for Course/Group Rights and set to Column 2. (This matches the original file you created above.) Click on the Continue button.

Step 4: Default Field Values
Use the drop down menu to change Authentication to 0=External. All other fields remain the default as they are. Click the Continue button.

Step 5: Account Synchronization
Click the Continue button.

Step 6: Final Review
This should be ok. Click the Finish button.

Batch Subscription Results This page displays the results. It notifies you here if you put in an invalid account. Toward the bottom you can either leave checked or unchecked the two sections that email you a detailed report and email the new users notification of their addition to the course.
