Using this Wizard, you can create a series of questions based on a specified formula.
Click on the Quiz you wish to add a Calculated Question to, then click in the toolbar. Select Calculated Questions under the Wizards and Templates heading. Next, enter the question as it should appear to the user in the Question box. Enter the formula to be solved in the Formula box. In both fields, place curly braces { } around any variables that should be replaced with values. Any variable appearing in the question must also appear as part of the formula.
For example:
Question:
What is the sum of {A}+{B}?
Formula:
{A}+{B}
After you have entered your question and formula, set the number of questions you want ANGEL to generate, the number of questions you would like to be displayed on the quiz, and the number of points each question is worth. Click Continue.
On the next page, enter the minimum and maximum allowed values and the number of decimal places to allow for each variable. The wizard will use this information to generate random values for these variables for you. Click Continue.
ANGEL will have created random variable values and will now ask you how many decimal places you want answers to be rounded to. Select a number from the pull-down menu and click Continue.
ANGEL will now show the solutions to your equation using the variable values. At this point you have the option of requiring an exact match for each answer in order to be marked as correct. Click Finish when you are done.
You will now return to the quiz shell where you can see that the Wizard has created the number of questions you specified as well as a section heading that controls how many of the questions are displayed to students taking the quiz.
