You can create pools of question items. Use the Section Heading Editor to create pools of questions for random selection. Select Add Question from the toolbar and then click on Section Heading.

Use the Max Items drop down menu to select how many of the pool questions will be displayed. Be sure to click the Save button at the bottom of the page. Then add any questions that will become part of the pool. The pool continues until another Section Heading is encountered.

If your section heading doesn't seem to be working when you test your quiz, make sure it has been rearranged before the body of questions it should make random selections from. When a section heading is added to a quiz, it appears at the end of the list of questions you have entered. You will have to reposition the heading using the rearrange link near the top of the page. Rearrange the section heading to come before the body of questions you want it to select from.

Advanced Options

Pools may be created and stored in separate quizzes or libraries. The techniques used to do this and then access such pools is complicated. Refer to advanced documentation for discussion of pool items and the pool editor.
