Duplicating Quizzes and Answer Choices

Quick steps:

  1. Click the Lessons tab.
  2. Navigate to the location where you want the copy to appear.
  3. Click on the Add Content link in the toolbar.
  4. Click on the Copy Items link under the More Options section.
  5. Select a quiz to copy from the list.
  6. Once the copy is created, click the Settings button to change its title.

You can copy an entire quiz in the same manner as you can copy any item in a course. Select the Lessons tab. Navigate to the folder you wish to place the copy in. Select the Add Content link in the toolbar. Under the More Options section, select Copy Items. Select the quiz you want to copy from the list of course items. The duplicate quiz will appear at the bottom of the list of files.

You can rename the duplicate by clicking the Settings button and changing the Title. To rearrange the location of the quiz on a page, click on Rearrange in the toolbar.

To move the quiz to a different folder, click on the quiz title and then select the Utilities link in the toolbar. Select the Move Item link. On the next screen, select a destination folder. Choosing Top will place the file at the top level in the Lessons tab directory.

Other options for copying or importing existing quizzes from courses in which you have editor rights. They are:

Copy Quiz Questions: Use this to import questions into a preexisting quiz. Imported questions are added to the bottom of the quiz. Make sure you are in a quiz and select Add Question, then Copy Questions. Select the quiz you are importing from in the pull-down menu, then select which questions to import on the following page.

Import Quiz Questions: This allows you to import quiz questions from a text file. Make sure you are in a quiz and select Add Question, then Import Questions. Follow the instructions displayed on the screen for formatting and importing the text file.
