Viewing and Exporting Survey Results

Quick steps:

  1. Click the Lessons tab.
  2. Navigate to the survey for which you want to see results.
  3. Click on the Reports link under the survey link.
  4. You can choose from three types of reports. Click on the link of the report you wish to view.
  5. Click the Done button when you have finished viewing the report.
  6. You will be returned to the Reports menu.
  7. Click the Done button to return to the survey.

To view the results of a survey go to the Lessons tab. Navigate to the survey for which you want to see the results and select its icon or title. Select the Reports link in the toolbar. Three types of reports are listed: Activity Summary: List of visits by user ID showing relative activity (bar graph) Activity Detail: List of visits by user right (e.g., "Editor," "Student"), date, and time of visit Response Summary: Summary of all answers, grouped by question without identification of person who submitted Select the report you wish to view.

Export Response Summary:

You can export the Response Summary Report as a comma-delimited (.csv) , tab-delimited (.txt) or fixed-length file which can then be imported into Excel, a statistical analysis package, or a database. To export the file go to the Lessons tab. Select the icon or name of the survey of interest. Select the Utilities link in the toolbar. Select Export Response Statistics. In the next screen, select a File Format such as "CSV (Comma Separated Values)," "TXT (Tab Delimited Text" or "PRN (Fixed Length Text)." Check boxes for any data you wish to export, then click Export.

Choose Save or Save File As in the browser pop-up window, then select a location on your local drive to download the file to. Rename the file name to something memorable. Mac Users: Change the file extension from .asp to .txt or another appropriate extension. The file should be on your local drive. If you are on a Windows machine, you can double-click on the filename to open it in Excel. Otherwise, open the application you wish to use and open or import the file.
