Advanced Survey Settigns
Last modified: 05-10-2007

Advanced survey settings may be found under the various tabs allowing you to set additional survey parameters.

Access Tab
View Restrictions: Start/End Date: Set the exact date and time that the survey will be available for students to complete it. The dates will only be effective if you have checked the appropriate check box, otherwise they have no effect.

Internet Security: Browser Security
The Security drop down menu allows the editor to open the quiz/survey in a new browser window (using Medium setting) disabling common browser functions including menus, address bar, context menus (right-click), and the use of most control keys (Ctrl C for copy, Ctrl V for Paste, etc.).

The editor may optionally require the use of the ANGEL secure browser (using High setting). The ANGEL Secure Browser is available for download only to designated ANGEL administrators and is commonly installed in proctored testing lab locations.

Delivery Tab
Delivery Settings: Take Survey: The drop down menu allows you to specify whether the link for students to Take the Survey is enabled or disabled. This option is useful if you want to allow students to review the survey prior to taking it.

Display Settings: Display Mode: Specifies how questions will be displayed. All questions will show all questions on a page. You can chose to display one question at a time using Single Question and you can also disallow going back using Single Question - No Backtrack. Note: single question mode requires a DHTML-capable browser.

Submission Tab
Submission Settings: Anonymous: Place a check in the box next to Make submissions anonymous for an anonymous survey. This hides the student User ID in the survey reports for the instructor. ANGEL surveys are not truly anonymous, so use this accordingly.

Submission Settings: Auto-save: The Auto-save drop down menu allows you to determine if auto-saving will be disabled or how frequently a quiz will be saved. You can use this feature as a safeguard.

Submission Settings: Save Button: You have the option to disable or enable the Save button on a survey. To disable it, click the check box next to Do not allow users to save and finish later. With the Save button enabled, a student can begin a survey, save their work, exit the survey and return with their completed answers intact.

Submission Settings: Validation: Use this to determine whether a student can submit an incomplete survey. Select Do not allow incomplete items if you want to students to provide an answer for every question.

Review Tab
Review Settings: User Review: This setting determines if students can review scores and answers on previous survey attempts. The choices are Full Review (students can review their own survey responses), Summary Only (students see that that they have taken the survey, but not the responses) and Disabled (students do not see a submissions record). This setting works in conjunction with the Full Review Options setting.

Full Review Options: User Response: If User Response is not checked, the User Review setting will have no effect. Feedback must be checked to include that information.

Full Review Options: Feedback text: This setting works in conjunction with the User Review setting. If the User Review setting is set to Full Review and the Feedback text is checked, feedback should be displayed.Be sure to click the Save button after making these changes.

Automate Tab: Actions: Actions allow you to define actions to be taken when certain events pertaining to the item occur. Triggers allow you to specify different actions to take based on what event is happening or even based on a user's score.

Assignment Tab
Gradebook Settings
You have the option of setting gradebook options in this editor. These include points possible, category, calculation type and display format. You can click a checkbox to hide the assignment from students in the Gradebook. Please refer to the Gradebook documentation for details.
