Question Banks bring the concept of the Learning Object Repository (LOR) to the management of assessment items. Assessment item storage, organization and retrieval are designed with four main goals:

1. Folder-based organization scheme and simple drag-and-drop movement of questions between question folders provide a very flexible, simple way to organize your assessment inventory.
2. Instructors can search by term, keyword, standard, objective and question difficulty or question type. The search results can be previewed and individual questions selected for inclusion in any question bank folder.
3. Questions are only stored in the database once, preventing question replication across multiple courses and wasted disk space.
4. All question versioning, originating author / course and performance history are resolved behind the scenes in a manner that hides the complexity from the users.
