A drop box allows students to submit assignments electronically. Students upload assignments to a drop box and instructors are able to match each submission with each student as well as view the time and date of submission.

Go to the Lessons tab and navigate to where you wish to place a drop box. Click Add Content in the toolbar, then select Drop Box to enter the New Drop Box editor. Under the Content tab, be sure to give your drop box a unique Title. Drop box titles are identified using the first letter of the first three words of the title in various grade reports, so choose unique or systematic titles. For example, "Drop box: Titration Report" is a better title than "Drop box lab."

The Directions area allows you to specify which file formats you will accept, due dates, and any other requirements for the assignment.

Select the appropriate Access settings such as Start Date/End Date—You can use an end date to make a drop box disappear at a designated time if you wish to enforce deadlines.

The Submission tab allows you to control how many submissions a student can make, whether attachments are allowed and whether submissions can be anonymous.

Under the Review tab you can set User Review—The default is set to Normal-users see only their own submissions so that student only see their own submissions. To allow students to see submissions from other classmates, select Peer Review. This setting can be toggled on and off as needed.

Use the Assignment tab to set milestone and gradebook settings.
