From within your course click on the Communicate tab and locate the Course News and Events section. Click on the Polls link to enter the Quick Poll Editor.
From the editor toolbar, click on Add Question to edit the Question Editor, General Settings.
The following are options that you may include:
Question: Use this field to specify the text that should appear as the main question text.
Feedback: Use this field to specify feedback text that should appear when a user has submitted a response to this question, e.g., "Thank you for your input." You can use the special token %BARGRAPH% to visually display summary statistics.
Note: If you leave the "Feedback" field blank, after users respond to the poll question, not only do they see no feedback, but the question itself will disappear from view.
If you are soliciting a choice from a list of predetermined responses, complete the List Settings. In the List Settings section you must choose from the following options:
List Type: The List Type setting determines how the list items will be presented. From the "List Type" pull-down menu, select a format for the question. Selecting "radio buttons" or "drop-down list" allows only a single response choice. Selecting "check boxes" allows users to choose as many answers from the response list as they wish. The Numbered and Bulleted list types do not allow for user input. All other list types allow users to make a selection from the listed items.
List Items: The List Items field allows you to enter a list of choices or list items to be provided when the question is presented. Type a maximum of five response choices, each in a separate text box. For all other control types each choice will be a selectable item.
If you are soliciting an open-ended response from each user, complete the Text Input Settings.
You may choose from the following options:
Type: From the dropdown list, choose "Text Box" to suggest a brief response, or "Text Area" to provide space for a longer response.
Label: Type a label for the text box or text area.
Attributes: Use this field to specify any additional attributes for the text box or text area
In the Advanced Settings section, select Start Date and End Date dates and times.
If you are adding multiple poll questions with the same start date, you may specify the order in which they will be displayed by choosing a number for each from the Sequence drop down menu.
Click the Save button. Click the Exit Poll Editor to return to the Communicate page.
