Saving as a Template

Quick steps:

  1. From your Home page locate the Repositories section.
  2. Click on the repository link.
  3. Click on the Add Content link in the toolbar.
  4. Click on the Add From Template link.
  5. In the left frame, click on the Search link.
  6. Use the Category drop down menu to select System Templates.
  7. Click the Search button.
  8. Click one of the template links to begin the import process.
  9. Click the Save as Template button located at the bottom of this page.
  10. Click OK to exit the wizard.
  11. Click on the saved template link and edit as appropriate.
  12. Click the Publish button in the toolbar.
  13. The Publish editor page allows you to customize your template and select which courses can access it.
  14. Click OK when done.
  15. Go to a course which can use it and choose Add Content and Add From Template.
  16. Your newly saved template will be available for you to select.

The Save as Template option allows editors to save existing content templates. This option is only availalbe from the Learning Object Repositories area. From your Home page, locate the Repositories section. Click on the repository link. Click on the Add Content link in the toolbar. Click on the Add From Template link under the Templates and Wizards section.

In the left frame, click on the Search link. Use the Category drop down menu to selecty System Templates. Click the Search button.

Click one of the template links to begin the import proecss. Click the Save as Template button located at the bottom of this page. Click the OK button to exit the wizard. Click on the saved template link. Click on the Publish button in the toolbar. Edit the field tokens as appropriate. Click the OK button.

Field tokens specify areas of text that the editor should be prompted to replace when importing the final template. Field tokens can be used in any field within lesson editor pages and within associated files.

Note: Even thought the most common field tokens are used in multiple locations throughout the template, the editor will only be prompted once to provide a value for the token that is used multiple times.
